Multicharacter

Character selection and identity registration with configurable scenes, slots and appearance-provider integration.

se_multicharacterESX / QBCore / QboxDocumented version 2.0.0-rc.2

Release candidate: automated simulated tests do not certify in-game compatibility across all three frameworks. Complete the testing checklist included in the package before production.

Requirements

OneSync Infinity, oxmysql, exactly one supported framework and one compatible appearance system with its dependencies. This resource is not standalone.

ESX: esx_skin with skinchanger, or illenium-appearance. QBCore: qb-clothing or illenium-appearance. Qbox: illenium-appearance. Keep standard resource names.

Installation

Back up the database and configuration, then test with dummy data. Disable esx_multicharacter, esx_identity and qb-multicharacter, including any folder-based startup that would enable them again.

Set Config.Framework and Config.Appearance in config.lua. Start oxmysql, your framework and the appearance system before se_multicharacter. ESX requires Multichar and identity handling enabled in the core. Qbox requires characters.useExternalCharacters = true in qbx_core/config/client.lua.

Review the SQL files before import. ESX uses sql/001_schema.sql; sql/003_esx_identity_columns.sql is only needed for missing identity columns. QBCore and Qbox use sql/002_qb_schema.sql. Never import ESX SQL into QB/Qbox. Migrations are not run automatically.

Configuration

Once logged in as an administrator, open /se_multicharacter_config. Configure slots, identity rules, spawn, camera scene and providers. All saved changes apply only after a resource restart in maintenance, not to active sessions.

Keep config/admin_overrides.json and its backup when updating. Do not change Config.Prefix on an existing database. Changing framework or appearance provider does not migrate characters, inventory or skins.

Usage & commands

/relog returns to selection when Config.Relog is enabled. /secharrecover performs local recovery; /secharretry retries selection when the player is not loaded in the framework.

Administrator access supports ACE se_multicharacter.admin, ESX admin groups and QBCore admin/god permissions. Qbox uses ACE. Only grant the permission to trusted staff.

Troubleshooting

An ambiguous framework/provider configuration or incompatible database schema blocks login with a log message. Fix that cause before retrying; changing providers does not convert stored skins.

Do not restart the selector, framework or appearance provider while a player is creating a character. Use maintenance and reconnect clients. Leave Config.CanDelete = false until cleanup of all related character data has been verified; deleted data can only be recovered from backups.

These guides cover the versions shown. Check the README included with your package when using a different release.
